Overview
Revenue, costs and profit for any period, down to each product.
Generate a report
Choose a From and To date, or use Today, Last week, Last month or Last year, then press Generate. A period can span up to ten years.
Reports are calculated on the server, so generating a new one needs a connection. Offline, you see the last report you generated for that period, marked with when it was made and how many unsynced changes it leaves out.
The summary
| Line | What it is |
|---|---|
| Revenue | What you sold, after discounts |
| Ingredient cost | Ingredients for everything baked in the period, including what wasn’t sold |
| Gross margin | Revenue minus ingredient cost |
| Fixed costs | Your monthly costs for the days in this period |
| Labor | Pay for the days in this period |
| Operating profit | What’s left, before interest and taxes |
Click a line in the summary, a bar in the chart or a product to see its breakdown.
The chart
The chart shows quantity, revenue, cost or margin over the period. Use Filters to narrow it to a category or a single product. Bars can be stacked by category, or by product within a category.
Quantity adds up kilos, pieces and litres alike, so it’s most useful when filtered to similar products.
Profit per product
To get a profit for each product, BreadWorks shares fixed costs and labor over everything sold. How it does so is your choice, in Settings → Overview:
| Split | How it works |
|---|---|
| By margin (default) | Products that earn more on ingredients carry more cost, and products sold at a loss carry none |
| By units sold | Every kg, piece or litre carries the same cost, which favours expensive items over cheap, high-volume ones |
| By baking time | Costs follow the baker’s minutes, so labor-heavy items carry more. Every product sold needs a baking time |
Press Generate again after changing it. No split is the truth: each is a reasonable way of sharing costs that no single product causes. The product profits always add up to the operating profit.
