Offline and sync
Working without a connection, and what happens when two people disagree.
How it works
Each device keeps a full copy of your bakery. Screens read from that copy, so they don’t wait for a connection. Anything you change is saved on the device first and sent to the server in the background, and changes from your colleagues come back the same way.
The server has the final say. It checks every change, so an entry you make offline can occasionally come back with a question.

Where to see the state of things
Settings → Sync shows the connection, what needs attention and what’s waiting to be sent. Press Sync now to try right away. The Settings tab has a mark when changes are waiting or need attention.
Pending changes don’t expire. They stay on the device until the server has dealt with them, or until you discard them.
Signing out clears the bakery from that device. Check that nothing is waiting in Settings → Sync before you sign out.
When two people change the same thing
If you and a colleague edit different fields of the same item, both changes are kept. If you edit the same field, BreadWorks can’t know who’s right, so the item shows up under Needs attention with both values:
- Keep theirs drops your change.
- Use mine puts yours in place of theirs.
Sometimes a change can’t be saved at all, for example when someone else has just deleted that item or added another one with the same name. The options then are Edit and retry or Discard, plus Use existing for a duplicate name. If other changes of yours built on it, they’re grouped together.
