Introduction
What BreadWorks does, and how its pieces fit together.
BreadWorks is a costing and planning app for small bakeries. You tell it what your ingredients cost, what goes into each recipe and what you bake and sell each day. It tells you what each product costs to make, what it earns, and what’s left at the end of the month.
The parts of the app
| Section | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Calendar | Log what you baked and sold each day |
| Overview | Revenue, costs and profit for any period |
| Products | Selling prices and recipes |
| Ingredients | What you buy, and at what price |
| Costs | Rent, utilities and other monthly costs |
| Personnel | Pay and working hours |
| Settings | Your account, your bakery, sync and export |
On a computer these are all in the sidebar. On a phone, Products, Ingredients, Costs and Personnel share one Bakery tab; tap the section’s name at the top to switch.
Three ideas worth knowing
Everything has a start date. Prices, recipes, rent and pay all change from a date you choose, and past figures keep what applied at the time. See Dates and history.
Your device holds your whole bakery. You can keep working without a connection, and your changes sync when it comes back. See Offline and sync.
A margin is only as good as its costs. The product page shows a quick margin per piece, and the Overview shares fixed costs and pay over what you actually sold. See How figures are calculated.
