Getting started

Sign in

Accounts are set up by hand for now, so there’s no sign-up form. Once your bakery has been set up you’ll get an email address and password to use. Press Log in at the top of this site and sign in.

The first sign-in needs a connection, because it downloads your bakery to the device. Stay online until the first sync finishes.

Install it on your device

BreadWorks runs in the browser, but installing it gives you an icon on your home screen and a window of its own.

• iPhone or iPad: open it in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
• Android, or Chrome on a computer: press Install when BreadWorks offers it.

BreadWorks needs iOS 15 or newer on iPhone and iPad, and an up-to-date browser elsewhere.

Set up your bakery

The order matters a little, because recipes are made of ingredients.

1. Bakery details. In Settings → General, set your bakery’s name and currency.
2. Categories. In Settings → Product categories, add groups like Bread and Pastry.
3. Ingredients. Add everything you buy, with its price. See Ingredients.
4. Products. Add what you sell, with a selling price and a recipe. See Products and recipes.
5. Monthly costs. Add rent, utilities and the like. See Costs.
6. Personnel. Add the people you pay, with their hours. See Personnel.

You don’t need to find last year’s prices first. The earliest price you enter for an ingredient or product, and the earliest version of a recipe, also apply to any date before it.

Run your first day

Open the Calendar, pick today and log what you baked and sold. Then go to the Overview, pick a period and press Generate.
