Ingredients
What you buy, what it costs and how it's measured.
Add an ingredient
Press Add ingredient and fill in its name, what it’s priced per (g, kg, ml, L or piece) and its current price. Enter 0 for something that’s free.
Units and conversions
A recipe can measure an ingredient differently from how you buy it, as long as BreadWorks knows how to convert. Within weight (g, kg) or volume (ml, L) that’s automatic. Going further takes one optional fact, which you enter on the ingredient:
| Priced per | What you can add | Example |
|---|---|---|
| g, kg, ml or L | Weight to volume | 125 g is about 240 ml |
| Piece | Weight or volume per piece | 1 egg is about 50 g |
Units and conversions lock once an ingredient is in use, because past recipes rely on them to calculate their cost. To use a different one, create a new ingredient and archive this one.
Change a price
Press the price and enter the new value with a From date. BreadWorks tells you how many recipes this affects. The old price stays on for dates before it. Every earlier price is listed under Price history.
Archive or delete
Archive an ingredient you no longer buy: it stays in your history but stops being offered for recipes. An ingredient that’s in the current version of a recipe can’t be archived; remove it from the recipe first.
Under Used in you can see which recipes use it.
